The oral doctoral examination of Hsin-Yu Chen, candidate for the Ph.D. degree  will be held on Monday, May 15,  at 9  a.m. in the Heroy Geology Laboratory, room 102.

Chen’s advisor is Professor Scott D. Samson. The dissertation examining committee will be composed of Professors Jay Thomas, Paul Fitzgerald, Christopher L. Kirkland, and Christopher Spencer. Professor Denver Whittington will serve as chair of the defense. The title of the candidate’s dissertation is: “Insights into Potentially Hot Magmas: A Study of Granitoids from the Kimberley Region in Western Australia and The Use and Limitations of Detrital Zircon in Assessing Sedimentary Provenance: Insights from Two Geologically Diverse Regions.”
