Syracuse University’s Setnor School of Music and Hendricks Chapel, in connection with the Lockerbie Remembrance Program, present performances remembering the 35th anniversary of the Lockerbie Pan Am 103 tragedy. The Syracuse University Wind Ensemble and Hendricks Chapel Choir performances in London, Edinburgh, and Lockerbie include premieres of commissioned works, and are meant as a meaningful commemoration for the families and friends of those lost, and a chance for the University community worldwide to remember and reflect.
The Syracuse University Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Bradley P. Ethington and Dr. Timothy W. Diem, will perform works by Richard Strauss, Tielman Susato, Arturo Marquez, George Gershwin, Julie Giroux, and Timothy Mahr, including a premiere by Frank Ticheli and a new work by Syracuse University faculty member, composer Natalie Draper.
Hendricks Chapel Choir, under the direction of Dr. José “Peppie” Calvar, with organist Dr. Anne Laver, will perform works by Judith Weir, Lewis Lewandowski, Salamone Rossi, Moses Hogan, Undine Smith Moore, Guide López-Gavilán, Paul Simon, Olivier Messiaen, and others, including premieres of a work by Cecilia McDowell and a traditional piece arranged by Joel Touranjoe.
