Syracuse University’s motto, “Suos cultores scientia coronat,” can be translated as “Knowledge crowns those who seek her.” But what are the sources of our knowledge? How we know what we know as individuals and societies depends on how we understand the nature of knowledge. Building upon “Ways of Knowing in Early Modern Science,” a current exhibition at the Special Collections Research Center (SCRC), the pop-up display showcases additional materials pertaining to early modern scientific, practical, and indigenous knowledge found within SCRC’s collections. Attendees will have the opportunity to directly engage with the items on display. SCRC staff will be on hand to answer questions about the materials on view and the Center.
