The New York State (NYS) Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence (OPDV) and Syracuse University are proud to present Modernizing Masculinity: How Men and Boys Can Break the Mold and Achieve Aspirational Masculinity.
This panel will be hosted by former Syracuse University and NFL quarterback Don McPherson, and panel members will include Syracuse University officials, student leaders and NYS officials. They will explore how men and boys can break free of the idea of “Toxic Masculinity” and achieve “Aspirational Masculinity.” Aspirational Masculinity is a philosophical approach to engaging boys and men in a positive and deliberate examination of male identity, and the relationships and behaviors of and between boys and men.
OPDV and Syracuse University invite you to join us in a guided discussion where we will break down how society defines masculinity, how men and boys can join the conversation about gender-based violence, and local resources available.
The panel will be on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 6 p.m. in 175 White Hall (Falk College).

They are currently in year one of their Start the Conversation public awareness campaign, which focuses on Engaging Men and Boys. They kicked off their campaign by launching their Pledge of Accountability Against Gender-Based Violence, in partnership with Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado.
