The Moynihan Institute presents the new Study of Global Politics (SGP) series! We are kicking off the new series with presentations of two new books by Maxwell faculty, Erin Hern and Daniel McDowell.

Hern will talk about “Explaining Successes in Africa: Things Don’t Always Fall Apart,” in which she focuses on African countries that have performed well in certain arenas and uses theory and case comparison to explain these successes. McDowell will introduce his book “Bucking the Buck: US Financial Sanctions and the International Backlash Against the Dollar,” which argues that punishing U.S. financial sanctions provoke its adversaries to reduce their reliance on the dollar and move into alternative currencies.
