This event has already occurred. The information may no longer be valid.

The Barner-McDuffie House, in collaboration with the Black Graduate Student Association and the African Graduate Student Network, will be hosting its inaugural Graduate Writing Workshop. The event is intentionally structured to be an in-person experience for graduate students, providing them with uninterrupted time to focus on their writing and offering targeted presentations aimed at addressing their unique challenges and helping them enhance their skillset as a graduate student.

We recognize that graduate students are at various stages of writing. As such, they have the option to write the entire day and/or engage in workshops provided. We will have Daniel Olson-Bang, Ph.D., director of professional and career development from the Graduate School, in attendance all day for students that need help and guidance on writing. In addition, we’ll be having presentations by Marcelle Haddix, Ph.D. (associate provost for strategic initiatives, Distinguished Dean’s Professor of Literacy, Race and Justice, Office of Academic Affairs) in the morning, and Srivi Ramasubramanian, Ph.D. (Newhouse professor and Endowed Chair) in the afternoon.
