This event has already occurred. The information may no longer be valid.

The Open Science Framework (OSF) is a free and open source project management tool that supports researchers throughout their entire project lifecycle. The OSF helps research teams work on projects privately or make the entire project publicly accessible for broad dissemination, while enabling connections to the many scientific tools researchers already use. This serves to streamline research processes and increase collaboration and sharing. You may even use the OSF as a portfolio tool for sharing your work with potential collaborators or employers. In this series, Crystal Steltenpohl, training and education manager at the Center for Open Science, will engage you in two hands-on workshops to help you navigate the OSF and get you started with data management, research collaboration, and research sharing on the platform.

This second workshop in the series will consist of one core module:

Data Management and Sharing:

  • Describe the importance of data management
  • Describe the components of FAIR data
  • Identify appropriate data management strategies
  • Define metadata
  • Describe the importance of data sharing
  • Identify trusted repositories for sharing data
  • Articulate considerations for when to share (or not share) data

This workshop counts towards completion of the Research Skills & Scholarly Publishing badge in the BioInspired Institute’s Professional Development Program. The workshop is cosponsored with the Graduate School’s Office of Career and Professional Development and the Syracuse University Libraries. Contact us at bioinspired@syr.edu with any questions.
