This workshop will focus on the Museum’s major spring 2024 exhibition, Assembly: Syracuse University Voices on Art and Ecology. The exhibition features artworks made by Syracuse University faculty and recent alumni that contribute to emergent forms of ecological understanding. By placing these works in dialogue with objects from the Museum’s collection, the exhibition considers a broad cultural evolution from an environmentalism of the sublime to an ecology of intimacy.
The workshop will provide Syracuse University faculty and graduate students with key information and pedagogical tools that will help them to teach from the exhibition. The workshop includes:
- An exhibition tour led by Mike Goode and curator of education Kate Holohan
- Interactive gallery activities that can be adapted for class use as well as an introduction to supplementary pedagogical materials that have been created to support the exhibition
- A hands-on art-making activity that will connect mind and body to the exhibition’s images and themes
To apply, please register by 5:00pm (EST) on January 26, 2024.
The workshop has a capacity of twenty (20) people. Confirmed participants will be notified by Monday, January 29, 2024.
