This event has already occurred. The information may no longer be valid.
This event aims to introduce the audience to Turkish cinema and culture by screening the film titled Dedemin İnsanları (My Grandfather’s People) (2011) by Çağan Irmak. My Grandfather’s People describes the spectacular transformation of a family, who were torn from their land and forced to migrate from Crete (Greece) to İzmir (Turkey) during the population exchange in the 1920s. Hence, the film invites the audience to witness and question what it means to be the “other.”
The Turkish Movie Night series also aims to complement the Turkish table events organized throughout the spring semester.
This event was published on January 25, 2024.
