Are you a graduate student who sometimes feels overwhelmed by all of the time demands in your life? Do you:

  • Worry about the future?
  • Have difficulty falling asleep due to all of the thoughts in your head?
  • Dwell on the past?
  • Go through your lengthy task list while trying to do your tasks?
  • Spend too much energy on things outside of your control?

If you experience any of these things and want to manage them differently to be more balanced and fulfilled, then Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is the program for you!

About MBSR

The Barnes Center at The Arch is offering MBSR for graduate students this spring. MBSR teaches the art of paying attention on purpose to the present moment with open and nonjudgmental awareness. By paying attention in this way, you can learn to respond to situations with choice rather than reacting automatically. Just as an athlete can train the body to be more agile and strong, you can train the mind to be less reactive and more balanced. Mindfulness practice through meditation, yoga and other mind-body techniques teaches individuals how to access inner resources that improve their ability to cope effectively with the stresses of school, work and personal life.

Learn More and Join MBSR

Attend the virtual orientation/interest session on Thursday, Feb. 8. Your registration information will be shared with the instructors for the course. If there is more interest in the program than there are spots, selection will be based in part on timing of completion of the registration form and attendance of the orientation/interest session. The program will only be able to accommodate approximately 25-30 graduate students this semester.
