Maxwell’s Black History Month Event
Speaker: Sean Drake, assistant professor of sociology
Presentation on the recent history of school segregation and desegregation efforts in the U.S., followed by a discussion about some of the implications for the current attack on DEI (e.g., the recent SCOTUS ruling on affirmative action) that we’re seeing in higher education.
Itinerary
12 – 1 p.m.: Lunch in Eggers Commons
1 – 1:30 p.m.: Handing out raffle tickets for a chance to win a copy of Professor Drake’s recent publication “Academic Apartheid: Race and the Criminalization of Failure in an American Suburb.”
1:30 – 3 p.m.: Presentation and discussion in Strasser Legacy Room, Eggers 220
