July 9, 2024 at 12:00pm1:00pm EDT

Schine Student Center, 304 ABC

In recent years, women-of-color have achieved executive roles in higher education. Yet, they have also experienced intense scrutiny and critique. This interactive session led by Mary Grace A. Almandrez vice president for diversity and inclusion features an intimate conversation between women-of-color as they reflect on the triumphs and challenges they have faced in their respective journeys.  The conversation will include perspectives from:

  • Sheriah Dixon – Associate Vice President and Dean of Students (Syracuse University)
  • Danushi Fernando – Chief Diversity Officer ( State University of NY, College of Environmental Science and Forestry)
  • Barb Karper – Associate Provost for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (LeMoyne College)
  • Dr. Eunice Williams – Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer (Onondaga Community College)

Together, they will interrogate commonsense notions of gender and leadership. They will also discuss how identity, upbringing, and organizational culture have influenced their leadership approaches. Audience members will have the opportunity to engage with the leadership circle and brainstorm strategies that promote the advancement of women leaders.
