According to recent data, nearly half of college students who attend university counseling centers report having experienced trauma, representing an increase of nearly 10% in the last decade (CCMH, 2022). This surge of reported trauma among college students, illustrates the need for TAs and instructors to have the knowledge, awareness, and skills to foster learning environments that empower students through the elements of choice, collaboration, trust, and safety. Over the course of this training, you will learn how to define trauma, the physiological and psychological impacts of trauma, the sociopolitical factors that impact trauma, and the principles and practices needed to create trauma informed classrooms.
