The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences presents the K.D. Nelson Lecture Series featuring speaker Xinyuan Zheng. His talk is titled: “Petrological and Geochemical Record of Fluid Migration in the Subduction Interface.”

Dr. Xinyuan Zheng, a member of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, develops and uses isotope tools to study critical processes that control climate and environment on the Earth and beyond. Zheng has an interest in biogeochemical cycles of major and trace elements across a wide range of spatial and temporal scales, and their implications for processes that have shaped surface environments of the planet throughout geological history. His current research focuses specifically on the development of new techniques for isotope analysis, experimental isotope geochemistry for non-traditional stable isotopes, chemical oceanography and reconstructions of paleo-climates.
