The Department of Art & Music Histories is pleased to announce its annual Art History Graduate Symposium. This event is open to the public and will take place on Friday, May 10, 2024, 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m., in 132 Lyman Hall and via ZOOM*. The program will feature the following presentations:

  • Maeve Donnelly: “They don’t come to see living things”: James Luna’s Artifact Piece and the Critique of the Collection and Display of Indigenous Human Remains
  • Molly Joyce: Marrying Venice: Ephemeral Triumphal Arches and the Coronations of Dogaressas Zilia Dandolo and Morosina Morosini
  • Daniel Madison: “A Rich and Real Power”: Persuasive Realism and American Resilience in Reginald Marsh’s NYC Custom House Mural Series
  • Olive McKnight: Envisioning a Queer Utopia: Leonard Freed’s 1970s Gay Liberation Photographs
