This semester, as part of celebrating its 50 years as a multilingual, multicultural department, the Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics (LLL) is hosting a film series. The German program will show Christian Petzold’s acclaimed film drama Barbara (2011/12), the portrait of an East German doctor living who is punished for attempting to leave for the West. Under surveillance by East German’s secret service for seeking freedom and love, she will eventually face hard questions about what she values most in life.
2024 is the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
