DoD101: How to find and navigate Department of Defense research funding opportunities & Quad Chart Overview – How to Engage with the Department of Defense

November 19, 2024 at 2:00pm3:15pm EST

Life Sciences Complex, 106 (Lundgren Room)

DOD 101

2:00pm-2:45 pm

The United States Department of Defense (DoD) funds basic research to the tune of billions of dollars a year, yet many academic researchers are not aware of the funding opportunities available through DoD, including programs in biomedicine, chemistry, biology, engineering, materials, and physics.

The Office of Government Relations and the Office of Research Development invite you to learn more about extramural funding opportunities from the Department of Defense’s research and development programs and agencies. We will provide an opportunity to hear from former DoD program managers and leaders about best practices for engagement with the DoD, the types of research most likely to achieve success with the DoD, and how to collaborate with DoD labs and intramural researchers. This is a hybrid event

Quad Chart Overview-How to Engage with the Department of Defense

2:45pm-3:15 pm

Following the DOD 101 session, the Office of Government Relations and the Office of Research Development will host an overview on creating a quad chart. A quad chart provides a concise snapshot of research across four key areas and is essential when engaging with the Department of Defense, as it helps them assess the relevance of the research to their mission. This session will guide participants in drafting an effective quad chart.
