11 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Mapping Stories: A Hands-on Introduction to Spatial Storytelling and ESRI StoryMaps with Meghan Kelly 

  • A hands-on mapping workshop available to students, faculty and staff interested in sharing their research and personal interests through maps and the ESRI StoryMaps platform. Snacks and beverages will be available. Please bring a laptop to participate. 
 12:30–1:30 p.m. Mapping Office Hours and Lunch with GATE Faculty, Staff and Students 
  • A networking event for anyone that uses and is interested in GIS and mapping in their research and teaching. GATE faculty, University staff, and graduate students will be available to answer questions, brainstorm and connect. A light lunch and beverages will be available. Drop by for 10 minutes or the full hour. 
 2–3:30 p.m. GIS and Mapping Jobs Panel 
  • A jobs panel geared towards undergrads and graduate students interested in careers in GIS and mapping ranging from nonprofits, tech and industry, government, and academia. Snacks and beverages will be available. After a series of structured questions, the floor will be open for questions.  

4–5 p.m. What Can GIS and Mapping Research Look Like? A Panel with GATE Faculty and Students 

  • A panel highlighting the application of GIS and mapping in academic research in GATE at SU. Panelists will highlight varying theoretical approaches, contexts, tools, and applications of GIS and mapping in their work. This session is geared towards students, faculty and staff. Snacks and beverages will be available. 
 5–5:30 p.m. GIS Day Reception 
  • A final celebration of GIS Day with snacks and beverages! This is a great way to meet folks interested and using GIS and mapping across campus.
