Working with students can be difficult at times as some may be reluctant to share in discussions during class. As TAs and instructors, how do we know when or if our students are doing the work or engaging with their learning in the classroom? How do we assist our professors and help our students learn? In this session, Teaching Mentor Janie Le will be going over tips and strategies to help students stay engaged with their own learning in the classroom. She will be talking about crafting relevant discussion questions, allowing students to participate in a variety of classroom activities, and exploring different kinds of classroom learning. Examples of technologies and other resources that TAs can use will also be discussed.
