Title: The Influence of Membrane Lipids on GPCR Signaling

Abstract

Membrane lipids are endogenous regulators of G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling but the structural mechanisms of their influence are not understood.  We utilize an integrative biophysical and structural biology approach to investigate how  membrane phospholipids and sterols control the conformational equilibria of GPCRs a magnitude comparable to or greater than the influence of bound drugs.  Integrating NMR data with correlative functional assays and molecular modeling allows us to propose a molecular mechanism explaining how lipids influence the formation of GPCR signaling complexes.
