How To Break In (And Get Away With It)

Breaking into the entertainment industry is less like breaking into a career and more like breaking into a house—you’ve got to know exactly what you want from inside there, you can’t go in through the front door, and the goal is less to stay there forever than it is about making it out alive—and knowing where to break into next.

In this talk, Lukas Kaiser, will use humor, candor, metaphor and his life—and the lives and examples from others—to help explain how hard and strange and brilliant and exhilarating and exhausting and frustrating and amazing this industry can be—and hopefully spark some creative ways for you to case the joint and hopefully break in one day, too.

Melissa Martinez, assistant teaching professor of television, radio and film, will moderate this enlightening discussion. Kaiser is the senior vice president, head of content for Westbrook Media, where he helped oversee the launch of the company’s efforts into the digital space—most notably “Red Table Talk” and Will Smith’s social and digital platforms along with the company’s successful slate of original content.
