Ukrainian Culture and Conversation Table

October 29, 2024 at 3:00pm4:00pm

Eggers Hall, 341

“Language is the house of being.”

(Martin Heidegger)

This time we are going to talk about the language code of the nation.

“In the beginning was the Word,” says the first verse of the Gospel of John (New Testament). Using the native language is natural and comfortable and we don’t even think about why we use such words and not others. But it would be worth thinking!

Have you ever thought that computer actions are programmed with language code? So, we can only imagine how the language code affects societies! This time we will talk about the Ukrainian language as a reflection of the worldview of Ukrainians.

Come, discover and travel through the world of Ukrainian language!

Pizza and drinks provided.

This event will be hosted by Tetiana Hranchak, visiting assistant teaching professor, with support from the SU Ukrainian Club.

This event was published on October 21, 2024.
