Interfaith Day of Service and Learning

To foster peace and understanding through religious and spiritual life, the chaplains and staff of Hendricks Chapel at Syracuse University will host an Interfaith Day of Service and Learning, scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 1.
Beginning with a luncheon in the Noble Room in Hendricks Chapel, participants—who will include representatives from several of Hendricks Chapel’s six chaplaincies and 25 religious and spiritual life groups—will be transported to We Rise Above the Streets Recovery Outreach, a local non-profit organization that assists those in need of food, clothing, housing, and resources. Following a time of service and learning in East Syracuse, participants will receive return transportation to Syracuse University.

1:30pm Luncheon

2:30pm Transportation to “We Rise Above the Streets Recovery Outreach”
Location: 220 West Manlius Street, East Syracuse, NY 13057
3:00pm Service & Learning at “We Rise Above the Streets Recovery Outreach”
4:30pm Transportation back to Hendricks Chapel
5:00pm Conclusion
About We Rise Above the Streets Recovery Outreach:
We Rise Above the Streets Recovery Outreach, Inc., is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization that provides help for those who experience homelessness, and others who are underserved, underrepresented, and in need of food, clothing, and resources. Founded in 2014, We Rise Above the Streets partners with various institutions and individuals throughout Central New York, sharing a message of compassion and encouragement to all. Through weekly “Sandwich Saturdays” and yearly Thanksgiving Dinners, We Rise Above the Streets provides lunches, hygiene items, and clothing for thousands of people.
