River Stories: A Research Methodologies Workshop

Swati Chattopadhyay (University of California-Santa Barbara)
This workshop introduces participants to new methodologies in researching architectural and urban space. Led by historian Swati Chattopadhyay, it applies methods honed in the study of colonial and post-colonial spaces to archival documents and the site of the Erie Canal.
Schedule:
- Pre-reading – Participants are expected to read materials circulated before the workshop.
- 10:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. – The group will discuss selected archival materials in the Special Collections Research Center.
- 12:15 – 1:15 p.m. – Lunch
- 1:30-2:30 p.m. – Tour Erie Canal Musuem and walk the site of the Erie Canal in downtown Syracuse (optional).
Space is limited! Interested faculty, independent scholars, graduate students, and advanced undergraduate students are encouraged to sign up promptly.
