Deanne Gebell Gitner Storytelling Symposium

Join former Washington Post and Boston Globe editor Marty Baron for a conversation about newsroom economics, ethics and leadership.

As news organizations search for sustainable business models, journalists struggle to maintain an independent, uncompromised and uncompromising press. Baron will visit the Newhouse School for a wide-ranging discussion titled, “Public Trust, Private Ownership: Why Who Owns the Media Matters.”

Baron will speak as a guest of the Deanne Gebell Gitner Storytelling Symposium, established in honor of associate professor Seth Gitner’s late mother. The symposium supports student access to industry expertise and celebrates storytelling.

Aileen Gallagher, associate dean for academic affairs and professor of magazine, news and digital journalism, will moderate the conversation.

Baron is also the author of “Collision of Power: Trump, Bezos, and THE WASHINGTON POST,” released October 2023.
