La Casita Exhibition Opening: WEIRD Barrio

Syracuse-based Puerto Rican artist Manuel Matías will present his new exhibit, “WEIRD Barrio,” an intriguing collection of miniature three-dimensional dioramas that depict the Latino experience of Syracuse and Central New York in intricately detailed and familiar scenes and landscapes, as well as works produced during the 2024 summer artmaking workshops led by the artist with Syracuse University students and local youths. Event will include an authentic Caribbean tapas buffet and live music by Grupo Pagán.
This event is part of the Humanities Center’s 2024-25 Syracuse Symposium series on “Community.” Additional support comes from the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation.
