Orange Shirt Day, also called National Day for Truth and Reconciliation or National Day of Remembrance, is observed yearly in Canada and the United States. On Sept. 30, we wear orange shirts to honor the 150,000+ Indigenous children forced to attend residential schools and endure hardships, and to encourage meaningful discussions about the impacts and legacies of these institutions.
