Learn at SU Libraries: Digital Humanities Workshop: An Introduction to Data Sonification
April 17, 2025 at 2:00pm – 4:00pm EDT
Bird Library, Peter Graham Scholarly Commons (Room 114)
Join us for an Introduction to Data Sonification. Patrick will introduce the audience to using sound as a data “visualization” technique, share some examples of effective and creative data sonification, and provide a hands-on opportunity for users to create there own sonification experiments and explorations with TwoTone. Datasets will be supplied, but users are also encouraged to bring their own. No programming experience is necessary. Participants will consider potential benefits and challenges of data sonification, develop strategies for collecting and preparing data for sonification, and will gain experience with a basic, easy-to-use tool for making their own sonifcation. Limited space is available.
Presented by Patrick Williams, Humanities Librarian and Digital and Open Scholarship Lead
