Eggers Hall, 341
Ukrainian spirit of winter or “three feasts as guests”
“Three feasts as guests,” they sing in a famous Ukrainian carol, rejoicing in winter.
Winter holidays are a time of special traditions in Ukrainian culture. This is a time when frosty patterns and festive wishes outline the fate of the next year. Would you like to know what it will be like?
Learn more about what, when and how Ukrainians celebrate in winter, how kolyadka (carol) differs from schedrivka (another genre of carols), about Epiphany holiday traditions, winter “sowing”, vytynanka, and what didukh and spiders have to do with all this, during the Ukrainian Cultural and Conversation Table on Jan. 16.
Come to learn and have fun!
Pizza and drinks provided.
This event will be hosted by Tetiana Hranchak, visiting assistant teaching professor, with support from the SU Ukrainian Club.
