Artist Talk with Painter Meris Drew

January 27, 2025 at 5:30pm6:15pm EST

Shaffer Art Building, Room 121

Meris Drew holds an M.F.A. in painting from Indiana University and a B.A. in art and art history from New College of Florida. Her paintings, like the swampy Floridian landscape where she grew up, are places where volatile organic systems crisscross with science, storytelling and magical thinking.

Drew is currently visiting assistant professor of painting at Indiana University and was previously a full-time lecturer at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Her work has been featured in recent solo exhibitions at Stellarhighway (New York), Fried Fruit (Wilmington) and Bottom Feeder Books (Pittsburgh).  Recent group shows include those with My Pet Ram (New York), Platform (online via David Zwirner), New Collectors Gallery (New York), Brew House Association (Pittsburgh) and The Lodge (Los Angeles). In 2020, Drew co-founded Racecar Factory, a gallery and exhibition space in Indianapolis.

This event was published on January 23, 2025.
