Dissertation Defense: Jay Prakash Sharma

The oral doctoral examination of Jay Prakash Sharma, candidate for the Ph.D. degree, will be held on Wednesday, July 16, at 1:00 p.m. in 205 A Maxwell Hall and via Zoom.

Sharma’s advisors are Professors Azra Hromadžić and Susan Wadley. The dissertation examining committee will be composed of Professors Mona Bhan, Ann Gold, and Uday Chandra. Professor Tula Goenka will serve as chair of the defense. The title of the candidate’s dissertation is: “Negotiating Development: Adivasi Resistance, State Developmentalism, and the Making of Lesser Citizens in Jharkhand, India.”
