June 21, 2025 at 3:00pm – 6:00pm EDT
Community Folk Art Center

Come join us for a day filled with groovy beats and good vibes at the Community Folk Art Center. Get ready to dance the day away to the hottest house music tracks spun by our talented DJ, DUBL 6.
About the artist: DJ, DUBL 6
Hailing from Crown Heights, Brooklyn, DJ DubL 6 was raised in a home where Jazz, Soul, Funk, and Blues poured out of every room. Coming of age in the 1970s and 80s at the cultural epicenter of an intersection of his Caribbean roots, the birth of Hip Hop, and later the rise of House. His musical journey is deeply personal, shaped by block parties, basement sessions, Warehouse venues, and tucked-away lounges; he was taught music should always mean something.
Since relocating to Syracuse, DubL 6 has continued to build community through sound. Whether spinning for Syracuse University events, holding down a residency at several local spots, or donating his time for nonprofit gatherings, he brings the same care, curation, and cultural respect to every set. As the in-house DJ for both 100 Black Men and the Community Folk Art Center, his work is a sonic celebration of the diaspora—music that tells stories, stirs the ancestors, and creates connections. As he puts it: “If it don’t say something to your soul, move your spirit, or spark your intellect—I ain’t gonna play it!”
Known to some as the Godfather of the Grown Folks Music Movement (GFM²) and the Original Guardian of the Second Floor Basement (2FB), DJ DubL 6 is more than a DJ—he’s “a vibe and cultural archivist. He is the self-proclaimed Tan Thousandaire, Original Brooklyn Bush Boy, the Schizophrenic Soul Savage, or the Last Funk Junky.
