Ash Wednesday Services at SU

Ash Wednesday is Mar. 5, 2025 marking the beginning of the Christian season of Lent. Lent is a 40-day period of reflection that guides people of Christian faith to the “Triduum” that begins on the evening of Holy (Maundy) Thursday and closes on Easter Sunday, Apr. 20.

Ashes will be distributed at the times listed below at both Hendricks Chapel and the SU Catholic Center (110 Walnut Place).

The noon ecumenical service at Hendricks Chapel will include clergy from a variety of Christian traditions. The service will be held from 12-12:30 P.M. in Hendricks Chapel.

The complete schedule includes:

  • 8:00 A.M.
    Catholic Mass and Distribution of Ashes
    SU Catholic Center, 110 Walnut Place
  • 12:00 P.M.
    30-minute Ecumenical Worship Service with Distribution of Ashes
    Hendricks Chapel
  • 1:30 P.M.
    Catholic Prayer Service and Distribution of Ashes
    SU Catholic Center
  • 4:00 P.M.
    Prayer Service and Distribution of Ashes
    Hendricks Chapel
  • 5:00 P.M.
    Prayer Service and Distribution of Ashes
    Hendricks Chapel
  • 7:00 P.M.
    Catholic Prayer Service and Distribution of Ashes
    SU Catholic Center
