Using archival letters from the Special Collections Research Center’s Gertrude Berg Papers, Pulitzer Prize-winning critic Nussbaum discusses fans’ parasocial relationship with Berg, whose creation of Molly Goldberg in “The Goldbergs” made her the nation’s second most admired woman behind Eleanor Roosevelt.
