Handbuilding Ceramics

Learn the basics of handbuilding or expand your current knowledge in this ceramics class.  Artist and instructor Eunjung Shin Vargas will facilitate weekly projects and uncover step by step handbuilding methods that enable you to create your own original pieces. 

Included with class fee: 25 pounds of clay, tool kit, 3 glazes, bisque fire and glaze fire of your pieces. Materials can be picked up at CFAC prior to the start of class.

West African Dance

Painting and Print-Making

Students will experience the joy of painting using various paint mediums and techniques, as well as learn the step-by-step process of print-making.  Supplies will be provided and can be picked up at the Community Folk Art Center. Space is limited.

Lift Every VOICE

Have you ever wanted to learn to sing or know how to sing, but want to sound better?  In this voice class you will learn vocal techniques, range, accuracy and breath control.  At the end of the six week series, you will have the opportunity to showcase your talent in an online show.

Creative Clay

Get ready to use your imagination to sculpt, build and create one of a kind ceramic pieces.  Learn the basics of handbuilding and all the great things you can make with clay.  Students will have the opportunity to have a piece bisque fired and to learn how to glaze. All materials are provided and can be picked up at the Community Folk Art Center.  Space is limited.

Mix it up Media

Experiment with all kinds of mediums such as paint, charcoal, drawing, pastels and more in this mixed media class.  Each week promises a fun lesson that focuses on technique and imagination.  At the end of the six weeks, students will have a chance to create a virtual display of their work.  All materials provided.  Space is limited.

The Dance Evolution of Beyonce (Dance class)

Ages 12-15

Beyonce is known for her dynamic dance moves, her vocal acrobatics, and fantastic stamina while performing on stage. Her amazing versatility has allowed her to connect across generations. For the next six weeks, we will learn snippets of dances from some of Beyonce’s iconic songs throughout the years. We’ll move from her old school joints to the afro-beats, and maybe even slow it down a little and pick it right back up again. Get ready to shimmy and shake and use parts of your body you probably didn’t even know were possible to use.

Be sure to wear comfortable clothes and take the class in a space where you can move freely.

Dance in unity in this Step Drill team class. Long time instructor and artist Joshua Williams will teach you the basics of Step Drill dance. You will learn techniques, rhythm and precision.  Be sure to pay attention and keep up and have fun! Students will have an opportunity to showcase what they have learned at the end of the class in an online show.  Wear comfortable clothes and dance in a space that you can move freely in.

Welcome to the theater!  In this class students will have the opportunity to learn the basics about acting and theater culture, such as monologues, dialogues, stage directions, costumes and more.  At the end of the six week class, students will have the opportunity to showcase their work in an on-line theater performance.
