Adult Programs

Get your body moving and grooving with Zumba, a cardio-dance routine that is sure to keep you fit.  Join long time instructor and dancer Monique Williams as she leads you through the moves.  Be sure to wear comfortable clothing and make room on your living room floor!

Wellness Wednesdays

Slow your week down and reset your body, mind and spirit with Yoga. Join Certified Yoga Instructor, Shakela Freeman for an invigorating hour of multi-style yoga & mindful meditation on Wellness Wednesday’s. You’ll get a good stretch, build strength, have moments of rest and full awareness of breath. This class is suitable for all levels, beginners welcome! Shakela is a Syracuse, NY native, wellness advocate & owner of Blend Theory community yoga and juice bar.



Handbuilding Ceramics
Instructor: Eunjung Shin Vargas
6:30 – 8:00pm

$150.00 (includes all materials, bisque fire and glaze fire)

Learn the basics of handbuilding or expand your current knowledge in this ceramics class.  Artist and instructor Eunjung Shin Vargas will facilitate weekly projects and uncover step by step handbuilding methods that enable you to create your own original pieces. 

Included with class fee: 25 pounds of clay, tool kit, 3 glazes, bisque fire and glaze fire of your pieces. Materials can be picked up at CFAC prior to the start of class.



West African Dance
Instructor: Joshua Williams
5:30 – 6:30pm

Feel the magic and freedom of West African dance with artist Joshua williams as he serves up the pulsing beats of Ghanaian dance and drum.  All skill levels welcome.  Be sure to wear comfortable clothing and clear an open space in your home to move freely. 



African Drum
Instructor: David Brown

Experience the joy of West African Drums in this class.  Join musical artist Dbrownavid  as he engages your sense of sound and rhythm with the basics of African drumming.  All skill levels welcome.  If you do not have a drum, drums may be purchased from CFAC.  Please inquire by contacting with “Drum” in the subject line.

HEELS Dance Class
Instructor: Tavares Lewis AKA Sparkle Royale

Ladies and gents get ready to slay in this sexy Heels dance class with Artist Sparkle Royale!  Learn the value of Body Positivity, get a great work out and have fun in this class in the safety of your own home. Never danced in heels before, not a problem, start low and work your way up.

Wear comfortable clothes, heels of course, and make space in your living room so you can spark it up!



Youth Programs

Painting and Print-Making
Instructor: Ms. Reina Apraez

Mondays 4:30 – 6pm (ages 5-11)
Wednesdays 4:30 – 6pm (ages 12-15)

Students will experience the joy of painting using various paint mediums and techniques, as well as learn the step-by-step process of print-making.  Supplies will be provided and can be picked up at the Community Folk Art Center. Space is limited.



Lift Every VOICE
Instructor: Ms. Martikah Williams
Begins February 1, 3
Mondays 3 – 4:30pm, (ages 5-11)
Wednesdays 3 – 4:30pm, (ages 12-15)

Have you ever wanted to learn to sing or know how to sing, but want to sound better?  In this voice class you will learn vocal techniques, range, accuracy and breath control.  At the end of the six week series, you will have the opportunity to showcase your talent in an online show. 



Creative Clay
Instructor Brandan Meyer
Begins February 2
Tuesdays, 3 – 4:30pm
Ages 5-11


Get ready to use your imagination to sculpt, build and create one of a kind ceramic pieces.  Learn the basics of handbuilding and all the great things you can make with clay.  Students will have the opportunity to have a piece bisque fired and to learn how to glaze. All materials are provided and can be picked up at the Community Folk Art Center.  Space is limited.



Mix it up Media
Instructor: Jessica Olech McGhee
Begins February 2, 4
Tuesdays, 4:30 – 6:00pm (ages 5-11)
Thursdays, 4:30 – 6:00pm (ages 12-15)

Experiment with all kinds of mediums such as paint, charcoal, drawing, pastels and more in this mixed media class.  Each week promises a fun lesson that focuses on technique and imagination.  At the end of the six weeks, students will have a chance to create a virtual display of their work.  All materials provided.  Space is limited. 



The Dance Evolution of Beyonce (Dance class)
Instructor: Ms. Alice Queen
Thursdays, 3 – 4:30pm
Begins February 4
Ages 12-15

Beyonce is known for her dynamic dance moves, her vocal acrobatics, and fantastic stamina while performing on stage. Her amazing versatility has allowed her to connect across generations. For the next six weeks, we will learn snippets of dances from some of Beyonce’s iconic songs throughout the years. We’ll move from her old school joints to the afro-beats, and maybe even slow it down a little and pick it right back up again. Get ready to shimmy and shake and use parts of your body you probably didn’t even know were possible to use.

Be sure to wear comfortable clothes and take the class in a space where you can move freely.



Dance in Unity (Step/Drill Dance class)
Instructor:  Joshua Williams
3 – 4:30 (ages 5-11)
4:30 – 6:00pm (ages 12-15)
Begins February 5

Dance in unity in this Step Drill team class. Long time instructor and artist Joshua Williams will teach you the basics of Step Drill dance. You will learn techniques, rhythm and precision.  Be sure to pay attention and keep up and have fun! Students will have an opportunity to showcase what they have learned at the end of the class in an online show.  Wear comfortable clothes and dance in a space that you can move freely in. 



Youth Theater
Instructor: Anne Margaret Childress
3 – 4:30pm (ages 5-11)
4:30 – 6:30pm (ages 12-15)
Begins February 5

Welcome to the theater!  In this class students will have the opportunity to learn the basics about acting and theater culture, such as monologues, dialogues, stage directions, costumes and more.  At the end of the six week class, students will have the opportunity to showcase their work in an on-line theater performance.
