The SU Diversity in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior (EEB) is hosting a virtual talk by Dr. Jared Ali from Pennsylvania State University.

Title: Chemical Ecology of Plant Defense and Multi-trophic Interactions: Bad Bugs, Pungent Parasites and Toxic Travelers

About the speaker: Dr. Ali is an Assistant Professor of Entomology at Pennsylvania State University. The Ali lab works on the behavior and chemical ecology of multi-trophic interactions. This includes plant responses to herbivory, nematode and insect community ecology, chemical ecology, and coevolution. Research projects include trophic cascades, above-below ground interactions, chemotaxis of soil nematodes, and the evolution of plant defense strategies.

About the series: Graduate students and faculty from the ecology labs at SU have been working towards a virtual seminar series focused on greater inclusion of scientists from underrepresented backgrounds in ecology and the environmental sciences. This seminar series, in addition to showcasing current research in the field, will also provide an opportunity for the student population to interact with scientists from diverse backgrounds.
