Dympna Callaghan, the William Safire Professor of Modern Letters and University Professor in the Department of English and professor Amanda Eubanks Winkler from the Department of Art and Music Histories will discuss Eubanks Winkler’s recently published book, Music, Dance, and Drama in Early Modern English Schools, the first to systematically analyze the role that the performing arts played in English schools after the Reformation. Eubanks Winkler will shed light and fill historic gaps on the subject through an innovative methodology that combines rigorous archival research with phenomenological and performance studies approaches.
