Social media has flooded people with unprecedented access – access to information, education, and people. This access to people, coupled with the perceptions of relationships that social media presents, has shifted the definition and scope of relationships. From relationships with parents, children, spouses, friends, co-workers, and prospective and current love interests, things have changed – but have they changed for the better? Join Dr. Melody M. Brown G’17, LMFT as she outlines how these shifts in relationships are impacting the Black community. Brown will detail the ultimate benefits of relationships in today’s society and share ways to navigate them successfully.
A Black Health and Wellness Expo event presented by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, 119 Euclid, the Office of Financial Aid, and the Barnes Center at the Arch as part of the Black History Month celebration. For accommodations, please email stwhite@syr.edu by February 16.
