Your resumé is one of the most important parts of an application and is key to your professional development. When you hit the job market you need a resumé that is comprehensive, yet concise; detailed, yet readable; slick, but not glib. How exactly do you build a resume that catches the eye of a potential employer? Should your resumé be one page? Two? Three??? Should you include your summer job or work you did during college that is not necessarily germane to the career you want? What about that internship? How do you balance education against experience? What about publications? How should one update and develop a resumé over time? And there are major differences to how resumés look in the US compared to say Europe.  Like Schleusener, formerly of the White House Office of Presidential Personnel, will go over the most important aspects of resumé development for the US market. The event will be chaired by Professor Williams from the Department of Public Administration and International Affairs.

Luke Schleusener (he/him) is a Co-Founder and the President of Out in National Security and a Security Fellow at the Truman National Security Project. He served on the speechwriting staff of Secretaries of Defense Panetta, Hagel, and Carter from 2012 to 2017. Previous to which, he worked in the White House Office of Presidential Personnel from 2011 to 2012. He worked on President Obama’s campaign in 2008. He holds an A.M. from the University of Chicago and a B.A. from Wesleyan University. He was a Zemsky Scholar of Arabic at Hebrew University in 2010, and attended the American University of Cairo.
