Syracuse University is hosting the SCI Region II Conference Nov. 4-6. Region II comprises composers from New York, New Jersey, and Puerto Rico. This is the first SCI Region II conference in over 15 years, since the 2006 conference at Hamilton College.

We’re excited to have a weekend celebrating new music, with a focus on the voices of our region. The conference weekend includes six concerts and a presentation session, with solo, chamber, choral, electronic, and orchestra music all featured. We’ve invited a guest composer and Syracuse University alumnus, Nilo Alcala, to be featured on the choral concert, and he will also give a pre-concert talk on his music. We have 40 composers coming in from local areas and from across the country, and it should be a great opportunity to connect with colleagues and listen to excellent new music.
