Dissertation Defense: Amber DeVries

The oral doctoral examination of Amber DeVries, candidate for the Ph.D. degree will be held on Friday, April 14, at 2  p.m. in Eggers Hall, room 151.

DeVries’s advisor is Professor Mark Schmeller. The dissertation examining committee will be composed of Professors Tessa Murphy and Carol Faulkner. Professor Robert Wilson will serve as chair of the defense. The title of the candidate’s dissertation is: “Building the New American Man: The Role of the United States Navy in Creating Ideas of Manhood, Masculinity, and an American Identity in the Early American Republic.”
