How do you explain something as vague, controversial, and all-encompassing as Brexit? The U.K.’s withdrawal from the EU after 47 years as a member has touched every aspect of British life, has destroyed prime ministerial careers, has been a defining issue of European politics, has been a pointer to global trends such as populism, and despite hopes it would do so, has spectacularly failed, as David Cameron hoped it would, to ‘settle Britain’s European question once and for all.’ By breaking down Brexit into 47 stories told through 47 objects, Tim Oliver sets out to explain the causes, consequences and meaning of Brexit.
