Visit the new Biblio Gallery exhibit on the 4th floor of Bird Library featuring the work by Yuhui Zheng, a second year graduate student studying illustration.

According to the artist, “Drawing is not just a major for me but also a means of self-expression. I find joy in the act of creating art because each experience is one of kind. My artwork draws inspiration from personal experiences and everyday objects, I believe that artworks are the bridges that connect me with my audience. As a student of illustration, I am determined to continuously improve my skills and develop my unique voice in the art world.

I was born and raised in inland China, so I have always longed for the sea. To me, the ocean is a mysterious place inhabited by countless undiscovered organisms that are hidden from our world of perception. Their existence is the source that fuels my imagination for my artwork. Despite the fact that I’ve seen the ocean during my travels and been to numerous aquariums, I have hardly seen exhibits of creatures from the deep ocean. It is even more challenging for us to find these species now, especially given how serious pollution is affecting their living habitats, with many of them on the edge of extinction. So I created a series of work to show more people the beautiful side of the deep sea.”
