Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley (1797-1851) penned Frankenstein at age eighteen. Often cited as the first true science fiction novel, its timeless themes of belonging, otherness and responsibility of the scientist-creator continue to resonate with readers today. This exhibit explores the varied interpretations of the Frankenstein monster itself. Often exploitive in nature, these imaginings are reflective of the fears and anxieties modern society spawns.
