From fires in Maui and Canada to mass shootings across the country, we are all part of world events that deserve in-depth coverage while journalists practice self-care and compassion.  Join the pioneering journalist and broadcast executive Mary Alice Williams and award-winning journalists from The New York Times, ABC News, CNN and ProPublica for “Trauma-Informed Journalism In A Time of Chaos: Preparing for When Things Fall Apart.” Together they will share their professional experiences and how those experiences can inform other journalists as they encounter times of chaos.

This is one in a series of discussions and workshops, in partnership with the Trust for Trauma Journalism and the  Stephen Jacoby Fund for Ethics in Journalism, to empower you to ethically and professionally navigate traumatic events.

  • Mary Alice Williams, broadcast journalist, moderator

A large mob who convened on Washington, D.C. for a “Save America” or “Stop the Steal” rally was incited by President Trump and stormed the United States Capitol building, fighting with police and damaging offices and rooms as they made their way through the building. As President Trump openly condoned the violence, the D.C. mayor called for a 6 p.m. curfew and mobilized the National Guard. (Photo by Ashley Gilbertson / VII Photo)
