The Syracuse University community is invited to join us at the Daniel & Gayle D’Aniello Building, home of the National Veterans Resource Center (NVRC), for a special Orange evening that recognizes and honors our alumni award recipients! The evening begins with the awards celebration, followed by reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres and drinks.

Celebrate the accomplishments of our alumni and students. Nicole Aponte ’24 will emcee our Friday evening Alumni Awards Celebration, as the Syracuse University Alumni Association and the Office of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving take this opportunity to present the following awards to those whose achievements are truly exceptional. The George Arents Award is Syracuse University’s highest alumni honor, created to recognize those who are pioneers and leaders in their fields. This year’s confirmed honorees are Thomas Wilmot ’70, Melanie Gray L’81 and Donovan McNabb ’98.

The Melvin A. Eggers Senior Alumni Award recognizes senior alumni for loyalty and service. This year’s confirmed honoree is Marc Malfitano ’74, L’78.

The Military/Veteran Alumni Award honors a U.S. military service member or veteran alumni who has distinguished him/herself through exceptional meritorious service and achievement in the military and/or in their post-service careers. This year’s confirmed honoree is Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Peggy C. Combs ’85, H’21.

The Generation Orange Award is presented to young alumni who have made significant contributions to their community and to the University. This year’s confirmed honoree is Amanda Quick ’14, G’16.

New in 2024, the Volunteer of the Year Award is presented to alumni who have devoted themselves to long-term and consistent volunteerism and service to Syracuse University. This year’s confirmed honoree is Tracy Barash ’89.

Also new in 2024, the Outstanding Future Alumni Award is presented to a Syracuse University student who displays exemplary commitment to both the campus and local community through leadership, service and/or involvement outside of the classroom. This year’s confirmed honoree is Leondra Tyler ’24.

Parking
Parking: Complimentary parking is provided in University Avenue Garage. Transportation: A van will depart the Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel at 4:20 p.m. and depart University Avenue Garage at 4:30 p.m. to bring guest to the NVRC. A shuttle will depart the NVRC at 6:45 p.m. to return guests to University Avenue garage and the Syracuse University Hotel. At 8:30 p.m., shuttles will depart the NVRC to return guests to University Avenue garage and the Syracuse University Hotel.
