ICH Showcase: A Celebration of Cultural Diversity

Come learn about the importance of Intangible Cultural Heritage!

The  ICH Showcase: A Celebration of Cultural Diversity is a series of events highlighting expressions of the intangible cultural heritage or living heritage.

The showcase is a two-part program, with weekend demonstrations and performances at CNY’s Art in the Atrium space from Friday, April 26 through Sunday, April 28 and an exhibition in the Sue & Leon Genet Gallery at the Nancy Cantor Warehouse from April 30 through May 7.

Attend the weekend events at the Atrium to learn more about African drumming, African American braiding, Puerto Rican and Southern US food heritage, New Mexican culture through storytelling, Irish dancing, and traditional crafts from Belarus, Ukraine and the US.

  Belarusian Straw Weaving with Danuta Hyrn
• Sunday, April 28: 3-5 p.m.
  Building Community through Ukrainian-American Egg Painting with Iona Volynets
  Boricua Christmas Tradition “Coquito” with Paola Manzano
  Irish Dancing with Abby Cullen

The exhibition at the Sue and Leon Genet Gallery will be on from April 30 until May 7. It is a chance to see all the cultural expressions on display and anything you might have missed during the weekend. There will be mini demonstrations at the exhibition opening on April 30 and closing on May 7.
