ODI Lunch and Learn Series: Tough Topic Tuesday: The Art of Navigating Difficult Conversations

April 30, 2024 at 12:00pm1:00pm EDT

Hendricks Chapel, Noble Room

As a continuation of 2023 The D.E.I.A. Symposium, which sought to spark diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility across campus, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion presents a series of sessions that feature students, staff, and faculty who submitted symposium proposals on various D.E.I.A. topics. Lunch will be served. Registration for each session is required.

The Tough Topic Tuesday series, curated by Community Standards, is a campus-wide conversation initiative designed to foster civic dialogue and enhance understanding on challenging subjects. In this exclusive edition of Tough Topic Tuesday, we delve into the art of navigating difficult conversations. We recognize that, despite education and awareness, our students, staff, and faculty often grapple with the subtle nuances of everyday language and its evolution; this session is dedicated to equipping participants with effective tools and strategies for navigating these challenges with grace and fostering personal growth. Join us as we explore techniques to promote open communication, active listening, and mutual understanding in the face of sensitive subjects. This session aims to engage and empower participants by allowing them space to reflect and refine their skills in addressing tough topics with empathy and respect.

Kindly please make accommodation requests at least one week prior to the event.
