Hendricks Chapel, Noble Room

This event has already occurred. The information may no longer be valid.

As a continuation of 2023 The D.E.I.A. Symposium, which sought to spark diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility across campus, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion presents a series of sessions that feature students, staff, and faculty who submitted symposium proposals on various D.E.I.A. topics. Lunch will be served. Registration for each session is required.

Muslim adolescents, particularly, are highly susceptible to the adverse effects of negative stereotypes, which often undermine their self-esteem and sense of identity (Callaway, 2010). In light of this issue, the primary objective of the workshop is to undertake a comprehensive examination of these stereotypes, while simultaneously equipping individuals with practical strategies to effectively navigate real-life situations where they encounter such biases. By engaging in discussions centered around texts and real-world experiences, participants are provided with a platform to voice their inquiries, express their perspectives, and critically challenge prejudices and stereotypes.

Kindly please make accommodation requests at least one week prior to the event.
