Hendricks Chapel, Noble Room

This event has already occurred. The information may no longer be valid.

As a continuation of 2023 The D.E.I.A. Symposium, which sought to spark diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility across campus, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion presents a series of sessions that feature students, staff, and faculty who submitted symposium proposals on various D.E.I.A. topics. Lunch will be served. Registration for each session is required.

Democracy needs to be more than a buzzwords, more than a word, it requires constant active practice to blossom. In this workshop, four democratic teaching practices will be introduced, used in a German literature classroom; however, these practices work in other settings as well: ground rules, mahloquet, mini-seminar, metaplan). Participants will engage in short exercises for enhanced listening (e.g., counting in, accepting glances) from drama and theater pedagogy that enables us to become more democratic in many situations.

Kindly please make accommodation requests at least one week prior to the event.
